Abide in Joy
You’ve learned a whole lot about joy at this point in this Bible Plan. So, is that it? You learned some good stuff and now you can leave it behind?
No way! It’s time to abide in joy.
Watch this video to learn what that means (plus some great reminders of all you’ve learned in this Bible Plan)!
Abide means remain or stay. Remain in God’s love. Stay there. It’s where the good stuff is—like joy, gratitude, peace, and hope—remember?
Make a daily choice to believe that God is who He says He is: a good and loving Father who cares about your life and wants to work all the pieces of your life together for good.
Don’t just leave this Bible Plan behind. Bring joy with you. Let it overflow into everything you do. Find someone who needs the joy that God’s given you, and encourage them. Live a life that’s full of joy!
Ask yourself: What are three specific things that happened today that you’re thankful for? (Yup, the same question as yesterday—you’re working on building a gratitude habit here!)
Challenge yourself: Yeah, same challenge as yesterday, too! Grab your gratitude journal and write down your answers to the “Ask yourself” question above. For a bigger challenge, write down the reason why you’re thankful for each thing that happened today, too! But, for a wonderful challenge, don’t stop your journal just because this Bible Plan is ending. Please keep it going! The more you do this, the more joy you’ll have. It will lower nervous or anxious feelings. It will help you to stay in God’s love! One day, if you should feel a little down, reading over all the good things God has given your life will give you fresh strength and joy.
Pray: God, thank You for the nearly endless things there are to be thankful for: fresh air, hugs, warm blankets, snacks, laughter, family, our ability to change, and especially You! You’re with me. You love me. You’re working good in my life. All of that gives me such joy! Help me to abide in You so I can abide in joy all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
