The riches of his glory and the riches of his graceSample
Even greater things
The works people of the old covenant experienced manifested the glory of the Father. They were amazing—David killing a giant; the walls of Jericho being destroyed; Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego prevailing inside a fiery furnace, Moses opening a sea with a rod, and much more. They were all mighty works, yet none of them were as powerful as the works of God we see in the reality of the new covenant. The armies of the old covenant cut off heads, but in the new covenant, we cut off thoughts. In the old covenant, they slew giants, but we destroy great concepts. In the old covenant, they broke down walls, we break down arguments and every lofty thing that stands against the knowledge of Christ.
Jesus said we would do greater works than He. The Christ-made flesh did mighty works, but the risen Christ who dwells in us does greater works than those done by Jesus of Nazareth.
• Jesus resurrected bodies, including Lazarus. We resurrect spirits and give them eternal life through Christ who dwells in us.
• Jesus of Nazareth opened the eyes of the blind, but we, His church, through Him open the eyes of the Spirit that have been closed so they may see the riches of the grace that Christ has bestowed on us. Which is more powerful: that a man might open his eyes and see the sea for the first time, or that the eyes of his spirit might be open so the eternal truths that will never change are revealed to him?
• Jesus of Nazareth made the deaf hear. The Christ imparted to the church makes it so that when we speak, the deaf can hear the voice of God for the first time, and their spiritual ears are opened.
• Jesus of Nazareth made cripples walk. The Christ imparted to the church allows people to begin to walk in the life of the Spirit, people who have never walked in the ways of the Lord.
• Jesus of Nazareth cleansed lepers, the outer skin. By the Christ in us, we cleanse consciences that are weak.
• Jesus of Nazareth walked on the waters. We walk on the world. It cannot submerge us in its concepts, precepts, or ideas. We walk above all things, because Christ is above all things, and we are seated in the heavenly places with Him.
About this Plan
We need to make known the riches of God's grace and glory. Once we understand what characterizes each type of riches, we will be able to understand which ones we should manifest and which ones we should be thankful for. This three-day devotional will help us in this understanding.
