Casting Vision Like NehemiahSample
Casting Vision Like Nehemiah - Part IV
Nehemiah’s vision for rebuilding the Jerusalem wall identifies four elements that are helpful in casting vision to others. The first is to clearly state the problem. The second is to propose the solution. The third element is to make an emotional appeal. And the fourth and final element is sharing your reason for hope.
Nehemiah was a newcomer to Jerusalem tackling a project that others had tried multiple times unsuccessfully over a period of 93 years. Nehemiah, however, had great hope because he had seen God answer his prayers in amazing ways.
In Nehemiah 2:18 Nehemiah said, "I told them how the hand of my God had been favorable to me and also about the king’s words which He had spoken to me."
Nehemiah gave the locals hope, and they quickly agreed to help. If you’re casting a vision for your project, don’t forget to share the reason for your hope.
Questions for Reflection:
- Why do you think Nehemiah’s predecessors failed to rebuild the Jerusalem wall?
- What’s the connection between having faith and having hope?
- Why is hope so important in motivating others?
Father, God. Your Word is alive, active, and sharper than any double-edged sword. We confess we don’t always stop to think about the connection between Your Word and our work. Thank you for raising up the leader Nehemiah so that we can learn from him today. Help us to follow his example when vision casting opportunities arise for us.

About this Plan
There are 66 verses about casting vision in the Bible. Arguably one of the most effective vision casters in the Bible was Nehemiah, a Jewish leader who convinced the Jews to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem in the 5th Century B.C. Although Nehemiah’s vision casting is only two verses long, it has four elements that are crucial to today’s business leader. This Bible reading plan looks at those four elements.
