The One

DAY 5 OF 28

Simple. Wouldn’t it be nice if everything was just more uncomplicated? In this world, life rarely feels very simple. There is always something going on. Everywhere we turn, there’s something new. In the midst of the crazy, sometimes we forget what we need to do and focus on is something very simple.

When asked what the greatest commandment was, Jesus responded with love. We are to love our God with all our hearts and our neighbors as ourselves. In Galatians, the apostle Paul repeats what Jesus says and reminds Jesus’ followers how important it is to love our neighbors. Loving others makes God happy. Not only that, but it will make us happy as well. Loving others makes you feel good.

For one year, my friend and I decided to do one random act of kindness for someone at our school every week. Let me tell you, it feels terrific to see someone’s face light up when you do something for them.

God loves each and every person we will encounter throughout our lives. God wants us to learn to love everyone as God loves us. We will never get it perfect, but if we keep our eyes on God and practice, we can get better at it with each passing day.

This week, I challenge you to do one act of kindness for someone every day.
