[From Heaven to the Hay in the Heart] Part 3Sample
Christmas Inside Your Heart
The Messiah´s coming is all about glory, worship, and praise. Heaven had a plan to bring the Savior to us, and heaven still has a plan. The plan today is to have the Savior who was born in Bethlehem to also be born in your heart.
In Luke 2, we read about an angel telling the shepherds that the Savior had been born in the city of David. Later, we read those shepherds were not passive; they immediately went to look for the Babe that the angel of the Lord had made known to them. And so, they found Mary, Joseph, and the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes. The shepherds didn´t keep the news to themselves, they shared what they heard from the angel and what they saw. These were the very first witnesses of Jesus Christ. One of the most important missions of a Christian is to witness others about what he or she has heard from the Lord and seen Him do in his or her life. These shepherds saw the heavens open; they saw a host of angels praising God, but they didn´t keep silent or inactive. They acted upon what they saw and heard. So, they witnessed to others, returning home, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen.
In Luke´s account of the shepherds, we notice that they were astonished and deeply impacted, enough to go home to worship God, as late as it was. Christmas will not make any difference in a person´s life until it becomes a personal and spiritual experience. It needs to become a matter of the heart bringing about a similar reaction to those of the shepherds, making us worship and praise God, and leading us to witness about the wonders and miracles of our Savior.
If Christmas is outside your heart and does not provoke in you an attitude of worship, it will be just another tradition, just another yearly time of waiting for gifts and a nice dinner. This is why Christmas is a sad moment for many who are mostly looking for external satisfaction. Their Christmases have been disappointing because they expect others to fill their emptiness or emotional needs. They miss the Savior. I would like to invite you to make this Christmas all about seeking God, all about asking Him into your heart and worshipping Him. If we seek the Kingdom of God first, all things will be added unto us.
