Catechism: Living on Mission

DAY 3 OF 3

At this point in your life, you might feel like you’re waiting for the next thing to happen: to turn 18, get a job, go off to college, or move out. But one thing you don’t have to wait for is living on mission.

Think about the places God has you in right now: You’re a student, a friend, a part of your family, a member of your church, and more. You might be a teammate, a roommate, a volunteer, or a school leader. And while we’ve spent a lot of time talking about how God can use your talents, abilities, gifts, and skills in those places, the most important thing Christians are called to is to love others like Jesus did.

So when you’re at school, on the field, and hanging out with your friends, remember: Living on mission really means living out the love of God. Everything you do and say should be done in love. It’s all that really matters!

Read 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

Reflection Questions:

  • Why are knowledge, generosity, and the other things the passage describes meaningless without love? How does love make these things meaningful?
  • Do you think the world would describe Christians as loving? How can we be part of changing that perception?
  • Think about the way you interact with others. Would your actions be described as loving? Ask God to help you show authentic love to others. This begins with believing in God's unconditional love for you! Focus on God’s love for you, and ask him to help you reflect that love to others.

About this Plan

Catechism: Living on Mission

You don't have to wait until you turn 18 to "live on mission" for Jesus. God is calling you to share who he is with the world around you now. God can use you, with all of your specific gifts, talents, and passions to make a difference. Unpack this in this 3-day devotional designed to go along with Catechism's Made For A Mission small group series, part 3 of 4.
