How do you see Jesus? Do you see Him as your Savior? A wise teacher? Lord? Friend? A nice guy? King?
When Jesus walked the earth, some uniquely saw Him as a party-throwing doctor. Yes, that’s right. A doctor who threw parties! That may sound strange, but just think about it. Jesus would heal people and then have these big feasts and parties celebrating the Kingdom of God breaking into their lives. Jesus didn’t just heal people who were sick or people who had a physical ailment. He also healed people who were social outcasts. People who, maybe because of things they had done or how they grew up, did not have any friends or even family to depend on. They did not have anyone to laugh with, play with, or share with what’s going on in their lives. But Jesus, the party-throwing doctor, invited them to the banquet table where they ate, laughed, and celebrated together all that Jesus was doing.
With Jesus, no one is excluded from the party. Who is one person in your life that seems like they don’t have a group of friends to call their own? Someone who might need you to invite them to your next hangout or church gathering? Like Jesus would, invite them into your life, and celebrate how real community can bring healing to their souls. Remember Jesus today as the party-throwing doctor He is.
