Olympic Inspiration

DAY 1 OF 6

Success Doesn't Bring Fulfillment

We all have expectations for things that will bring fulfillment. Yet we are often disappointed. How do we deal with that?

Are you like so many people who are chasing after accomplishments? What if you never achieve them? Then what? Even worse, what if you reach your goals and they do not bring the desired satisfaction?

Super Bowl champion Tom Brady made a comment about winning in a TV interview on "60 Minutes." He said, “There's got to be more than this!" Olympian Kelly Clark felt the same way. By age 18, she had won the big three of international snowboarding. Yet the feeling of emptiness was already there at the beginning of her aspiring career.

Although exciting and rewarding, winning alone does not satisfy. The confetti on the field can outlast the feeling of fulfillment that came with the victory. Kelly’s perspective changed as she learned that there was Someone Who cared about her as a person. And it was not based upon her performances and accomplishments.

Lasting, true fulfillment only comes from one place, a personal relationship with Jesus! In the Bible, Jesus says,” I come that you may have an abundant life.” Jesus also says that He is the only way to God. Those are two bold statements worthy of your investigation.

Application Questions:

  • Does your knowledge about Jesus come from the Bible? Or does it come from our culture, which tries to fit Him into their wants or needs?
  • Ask God to reveal Himself to you today, through this series, or consider reading through the book of John.
Day 2

About this Plan

Olympic Inspiration

Kelly Clark is a five-time Olympian and gold medalist. She is one of the world's most decorated female snowboarders. A comment from a competitor started her on a faith journey. Looking back, she says, "God had it all planned out, and I was along for the ride." This six-day devotional takes you into her story and the way God worked. It'll inspire your journey with our personal God.
