Jesus said, “...whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.” Often in the Bible we see Jesus speaking to the bigger picture while those who listen are too focused on the immediate. Jesus understands that if you do not have physical water you will physically die, but He is speaking to water for the soul that brings eternal life. Too often we’re focused on immediate results, on quenching a fleeting thirst that we’re not patient enough to do the work of watering our thirsty soul. This, however, is precisely the call of Jesus. We are called to take up our cross and follow Him, to give everything to Him, and drink from the water of life.
