Now Is Not Forever
There are days when our hope can fade to grey, even for the most steadfast in their faith.
A very dear man in my life passed away a few years back. He was fine one day and then stolen from us by an aggressive illness a few short months later.
Not too long before he took his last breath, his family gathered around in him in the palliative care home to sing a few old hymns together. That Sunday afternoon, he sang a little, tapped his feet, drummed his fingers, and soaked up those soaring songs of faith. I have only seen pictures and a short phone video of this sacred time, and in most, he is smiling a smile that makes me smile even now.
Even as his body was wasting away, the ‘eternal weight of glory’ was renewing this dear man’s spirit. We all still miss him. We will be together again as part of God’s glorious, eternal, and yet unseen plan.
I wonder if the devil’s greatest deception is that this moment is forever? Today I am reminded these moments are transient, and God is forever. Open your heart and invite the weight of His glory to extrude the grey today.

About this Plan

‘Spiritual gifts’ is a term we can get really hung up on. In this plan, we’ll look at all the spiritual gifts God gives us. Gifts to serve, gifts to love others, gifts to challenge one another, and gifts that leave a legacy. Gifts God has given us can change the circumstances around us because these gifts were given to shine His light, not our own.
