Come to the TableSample

1 Corinthians 11: 24, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
We know that Jesus died a horrible, cruel death on a Roman cross, just like a common criminal.
The disciples at this stage did not fully grasp what Jesus was saying to them. The accounts in the Gospels and in Paul’s letters are written post-crucifixion.
Jesus became that sacrificial lamb that would be sacrificed to take away the sins of the world. In the Old Testament, we are told that there is no forgiveness of sin without the shedding of blood. (Leviticus 17:11).
Jesus’ blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Our guilt is taken away, which is why we can live free of shame. Jesus shed His blood on the cross more than 2000 years ago for you and me. This is before we could do anything good or bad. Therefore, it is not transactional forgiveness. It is unconditional forgiveness given to anyone who will believe in the redeeming power of the cross. We are saved by grace through faith. It is a gift given to us. What an amazing Saviour we have!
Also, it is good to remember is that this sacrifice was a one-time event, once and for all, for all time, never to be repeated.
His body that was bruised for us brings healing to our body, mind, soul and spirit as was prophesied in Isaiah; by His wounds, we have been healed.
Every time we partake of the Lord’s Table let us remember what it cost Jesus and what we enjoy because of His body bruised on the Cross.
