Catechism: Life TogetherSample

What’s the point of physically coming to church? Many of us may wonder about that, especially since we can listen to millions of worship songs and sermons online. But God’s design for church goes beyond what you can download because the church isn’t just about the content; it’s about the community. Of course, in church, we learn more about Jesus, but what if the person on the stage or screen wasn’t the only teacher? What if the people around you were just as important in building you up and strengthening your relationship with God’s family?
Read: Hebrews 10:23-25
Reflection Questions:
- Do you think it’s possible to grow in your faith without a church community? Why or why not? How has your church helped you learn and grow?
- While pastors might do the majority of preaching and teaching, how have others taught you or encouraged you in your faith?
- Many of us need to shift from a “what can I get” attitude to a “what can I give” attitude. Ask God to show you areas where you can serve your church community. Then share this information with a friend or mentor. Ask them to pray for you and hold you accountable for following through.
