Key People: Key People From The BibleSample

David
Samuel not only anoints Israel’s first king but also the second. Saul, the first king quickly goes from being a humble person who doesn’t think he deserves to be king to one who thinks he is too important to bother with obeying God. As a result, in chapter 15, God rejected Saul as king. Again, God chooses an unlikely person to rule. Without knowing it, Saul begins to prepare David for leadership.
Verse 7 is worth a re-read. As people, we often evaluate others on the basis of appearance. Even though we know it is wrong to do it, the color of a person’s skin, the way a person dresses, or the accent with which a person speaks can cause us to jump to conclusions about his or her character or abilities. God sees who we really are. When God looks at you, what does He see?
