On Our Way to Easter

DAY 2 OF 7

Do you lose your way sometimes?

I ski as fast as I can behind André, my husband. It is foggy. I can’t, and won’t, lose him because I always lose my way in the mountains, especially when it’s foggy. Suddenly I feel the tip of my ski go over the other tip. I’m hurled forward, and within seconds, I’m lying on the ground. Ouch! I didn’t see that coming.

Jesus did see the blow coming.

He never loses His way, even if it’s foggy, even if it’s dark.

He knew far in advance that it would become painful.

The greatest pain ever awaited Him.

We’re walking together on our way towards Resurrection Sunday in our search for a powerful life in times of suffering. Everyone goes through suffering, but the way Jesus had to endure it was inhumane.

Jesus was the only human being who ever lived without sin, and yet the highest punishment was imposed upon Him.

How much pain can you handle? Jesus was:

  • Betrayed by Judas
  • Arrested by a mob
  • Abandoned by His friends
  • Denied by Peter
  • Mocked and falsely accused
  • Attacked, blindfolded, spit upon, beaten, and beaten with fists

And all this happened before Jesus carried that cross to Calvary.

“‘He is worthy of death,’ they answered. Then they spit in His face and struck Him with their fists.” (Matthew 26:66-67, NIV)

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin.” (Hebrews 4:15, NIV)

If you are going through a hard time, then know that Jesus understands you.

If you are hurting, know that Jesus knows how that feels. If you have been abandoned, know that Jesus sympathizes with you. Jesus went through every physical, spiritual, and emotional struggle, and He came out victorious so that you can receive the victory through Him.

Shall we pray together? “Lord, when we are in danger of losing our way, please bring us close to You again. We want to follow You. You have proven to be completely trustworthy. You understand us even better than we understand ourselves. We praise You! In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Your life is powerful when Jesus’ suffering eases your suffering.

Questions to ponder:

  1. Sometimes you may feel that God does not understand you. What should you remember in such a situation?
  2. What can you praise God for today?

Remember…you are a miracle!

I am your friend,
