A loyal spirit

We all know this verse in the middle of Psalm 51. Keith Green has written a beautiful song on this verse.
Create in me a clean heart. Our heart has been renewed. It has been cleansed. When we declare with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the grave, we are saved and our hearts cleansed! And now we need to guard our hearts not to be contaminated with the world. Stay clean, keep yourself clean, run from these desires of the flesh, flee from them!

To be able to do this, we need the Holy Spirit. It says in John 16:14 that He will guide you in all truth. When hearing the Holy Spirit's truth, we only need to obey and follow.

David asks for a loyal spirit. If your spirit is devoted to you, it will follow the urgings of your flesh, but when your spirit is devoted to the will of the Father, it will follow Him. A loyal spirit is leaning toward the Father's heart. In this way, you are more inclined to do the will of the Father. It will take more effort to follow the ways of the world.
