Year of the Bible: Part Three of Twelve Sample
Miriam and Aaron Rebel.
Moses' sister and brother, Miriam, and Aaron were anointed as leaders in the Israelite community to serve with Moses. God did not deny the prophetic gift of the leadership of Aaron and Miriam. Moses fulfilled the roles of prophet, priest, and king, Aaron had the roles of prophet and priest, and Miriam carried the role of prophetess.
There came the point where Miriam and Aaron's weakness toward jealousy and envy motivated them to criticize Moses. In an attempt to weaken and question his authority, his brother and sister called him out for marrying someone who was not an Israelite. God, apparently did not take issue with Moses for marrying a foreign woman, but Aaron and Miriam were convinced it was a big deal.
They forgot that it was God who chose and called Moses to lead the people. He did not choose himself!
Question: Is there a situation in your life where the right thing to do is actually to do nothing but wait for the Lord?
Prayer to Pray: God, sometimes all I can think to do is spring into action and try to fix the tough situations in my life. It is hard to tolerate difficulty, especially at someone else's hand. I now choose to look to you and trust you know what you are doing. Have your way in me. Do what you want to do. In Jesus' name, Amen!
