Reflect
Reread verses 17-19. What does Samuel say to the people? How would you describe his tone? When Samuel calls the people together, how is Saul selected? What did Samuel do after explaining the rights and duties of a king (verse 25)? In what ways does your community of faith keep a record of important actions and decisions?
Pray
Holy God, keep me close to you always, guiding me in the way of your truth. Open my heart to ways in which I can serve you each day. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
