Heroes Of The Bible

DAY 2 OF 7

William Tyndale

William Tyndale was the first to publish an English New Testament translated from the Greek. He also translated some of the Hebrew Bible into English. In the preface to his 1530 translation of the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Hebrew Bible), he wrote about his belief in the importance of accurate translation of the Bible. He quoted from Matthew 5 and Psalm 119 to bolster his argument.

About this Plan

Heroes Of The Bible

From a cave in Bethlehem to a printing press in Pennsylvania – discover the stories of heroes of the Bible! These historical figures translated, transmitted, and printed the Bible in different languages all over the world, allowing more people to engage with the Bible! This 7-day plan includes the stories of people like Johannes Gutenberg, who printed the first Bible, and Casiodoro de Reina, a Spanish theologian who was the first to publish a complete Bible in Spanish!
