Confessions of a Waiting Comedian - Sarah
Lord,
It's me again! The funny lady! Oh, I know I live to make light of everything and joke around, but I use that to cover up the pain of waiting. So I keep everyone laughing, smiling, joking around, and no one will feel sorry for me.
Abraham has a sense of humor. When I got the news I would have a baby, he fell on his face and laughed hysterically. I haven't seen him do that in quite a while!
All this humor can get me into trouble. When you hide a secret for so long, lying becomes second nature. When they asked me if I laughed, I lied. I admit it. I still have a hard time believing I could get pregnant now. Do you know what you need to do to get pregnant? Need I go on?!? I'm no spring chicken, honey, and Abraham's no rooster! Ho-ho! It seems like a cruel joke, even for the Queen of Jokes!
Lord, I am trying to keep my spirits up, but I have lost hope and faith that anything will happen in all the waiting and seasons that have gone. Oh, I'm waiting, alright, waiting to die! Ha! Last week, we picked out tombstones, and now you want me to pick out baby blankets? Chuckle! Oh, that is just too much! Ha-ha!
The (still) Waiting Comedian
My Daughter Sarah,
You know why I called you Sarah, right? Sarah means princess. I love your humor, I love the way your laughter sounds like bells pealing, and everyone can't help but laugh when you laugh! It’s contagious! But you have lived with unhappiness in your life.
Everyone deals with sorrows differently. I want you to bring your hurts and questions to me. You don't have to carry those alone. You don't have to be the loudest or funniest person in the room to be loved. There is always room for you, and I want you whether you are happy or sad, funny or serious, silly or thoughtful. There is a time for everything. I gave you all of your emotions to feel through things.
You must have been so confused when Abraham said you would have descendants as numerous as the stars. He's right. I said that, and when I make a promise, I never break that promise.
I have made a covenant with Abraham that includes you too. My covenant is a promise to be your God, and I will keep up my end of the deal, no matter if you break yours. I still love you when you lie or doubt, and I will still keep my promise. I will never leave you or forsake you.
Keep your eyes fixed on me, and I will give you those deep desires of your heart.
Your Heavenly Father
About this Plan
In this study, we will look at different people in the Bible who were stuck in the middle. Thankfully, we will see God join us in our middle, especially in the hardest times. He brings transformation, so all of us who are in Him will have a happy ending! If you feel like you've been stuck in the middle, this is the study for you.
