No More Chasing the Wind

DAY 4 OF 4

Remember There Will Be a Reckoning

Someday, you will stand before the living God. No one will stand there for you; no one will stand in your stead. Not your mom, dad, boyfriend or girlfriend, husband or wife; no one will stand there for you. It will just be you and God. Everything you’ve done—whether it was done right with the right motive or not—will be judged.

Managers who are getting ready to hire often look at a candidate’s social media pages: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, maybe even TikTok. What someone says on social media shows a lot about who they are, their education, their family, etc. With a potential employer looking at social media posts, a job candidate might regret some of them. But how do you feel knowing that every one of your posts, everything you do or say, will be reviewed by God Himself?

If you are not saved, you’ll stand at the Great White Throne judgment. It is for those who are dead without Christ. They will be told why they are being cast into the lake of fire, eternally apart from God’s presence (Revelation 20:15). It will be because of their own sin and because they have rejected Jesus Christ.

If you are saved, you will stand before the Bema seat of Christ. For those of us who know Jesus, who have given Him our lives, there is no condemnation (Romans 8:1). We will give an account of everything we’ve done for Him, and our Lord and Savior will consider how He will reward our work. We will receive eternal life and far more than we could ever imagine (1 Corinthians 2:9), if we keep watch over our lives and remain faithful (2 John 1:8–9).

No one escapes Christ’s judgment. There will be a reckoning for all of us. Every single person on planet Earth, for all of time, will have a reckoning before God, because He is both merciful and just.

So, live with forever on your mind and eternity on your heart. To do so, understand the system. Declare your devotion to God. Pray for perspective. Posture yourself as a pilgrim. See the invisible. And remember there will be a reckoning.

Day 3

About this Plan

No More Chasing the Wind

Solomon, the wisest and richest man on Earth, discovered late in life that he’d wasted his life chasing the wind. In a temporary world destined to burn up, believers must keep their focus on what is eternal. This devotional plan provides believers with six steps for maintaining a forever focus so that they can make a difference for Christ.
