You Are Called to be a SaintSample

The Holy Spirit intercedes for the saints
“The Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:27)
As we read yesterday, we are called to pray for all the saints. But we are not the only ones praying! Romans 8:26 says that we ourselves do not know what we ought to pray for. That’s a sobering statement. We don’t even know how to ask for the right things for ourselves, let alone we would know how to pray for the situations and needs of others! We may ask the Lord for the wrong things or with the wrong intentions. We sometimes are like little children who constantly ask for candy, whereas their parents know they need a healthy meal instead. If the Lord would always give us what we ask for and only what we ask for, this would not end well…
Especially when suffering and mourning, we may feel our own inability to express our needs to God. We are just groaning or crying.
In such situations, it is encouraging to know that the Holy Spirit is interceding for us according to God’s will “through wordless groans.” And since He is always praying according to God’s will, His prayers are always answered. God knows what we need, and He is willing to give us everything we need, even if we don’t know how to pray ourselves!
