Advent: Catholic ReflectionsSample
How easy it is to ignore the Lord! We can go about our daily lives, working, eating, shopping, praying, whatever we do with our time, and we can simply forget the Lord's presence and his commands so easily. When we face big decisions, taking time to pray and seek the will of the Lord seems an obvious step, but I wonder why we do not already know.
My guess is that we are too unfamiliar with the decrees the Lord has already given us through the scriptures and the teachings of our Church. A simple approach is to consider: Are my actions loving towards others? Are my actions giving glory to God? Answering these questions though is a lot harder than posing them.
Today in our Bible readings, Isaiah reminds us to be "alert" to God's commandments, and Matthew tells of Jesus' frustration that we do not take notice of John the Baptist or him. We must, in good conscience, raise our awareness of the will of God so as to fully live out our Christian faith.

About this Plan
Advent is, of course, a time to prepare. To prepare our homes, lives, and our hearts. Join us as we explore the Bible readings used by the Church to challenge, encourage, and help us prepare, not only to celebrate the incarnation but also the second coming of Christ.
