God’s Heart For The PoorSample

Live and Act
Christian love is more than a feeling. It includes a hatred for sin and a love for what is godly. There are several things mentioned here to illustrate that godliness. We are called to have spiritual fervor, which literally means “set on fire by the Spirit” toward obedience to God. That fervor should impact the list of practical ideas mentioned next. We’re not to simply understand, but we are to live and act upon that understanding.
In short, we belong to each other and we need each other. As believers we are called to enter into healthy growing relationships, thinking more of the other person than ourselves. We are to share the other’s burden, whether that be through self-sacrifice or practicing hospitality.
Jesus ministered to the common people, the poor, and those who were looked down upon. We are called to follow His example.

About this Plan

The Bible tells us that God “takes up the case” of those who have been crushed. When we follow His lead, we become an advocate for the poor—doing whatever we can to fight for justice. Over the next 30 days, we’ll take a compelling look into poverty and how God has entrusted us to respond.
