Year of the Bible: Part Five of Twelve Sample
David's Tent
David was a man after God's own heart, and he desired to have the presence of God with him at all times. He often spoke about how his soul longed for the Lord. He did not care about how people would perceive the outward expression of his inward reality and love for God.
In bringing the Ark back to Jerusalem, David established a new pattern for worship, and the tabernacle he built for God was very different than the tabernacle of Moses. In Acts 15, the apostle James quotes the book of Amos, declaring that the "tabernacle of David" will be restored, and the people of the earth will respond to God's gracious invitation into fellowship with Him, something God has desired from the beginning.
To understand what was different about David's tabernacle, we must remember that in the tabernacle of Moses, only one priest could come before the presence of God once a year. David established a tabernacle with singers and musicians who ministered to the Lord night and day. David's tabernacle was a tent open on all sides to all the nations around them. The presence of God was available not only to the nation of Israel but also to the nations around them.
The Lord is birthing a global day-and-night worship and prayer-abiding movement that will lead to an awareness of God in a way that will change humanity. Worship creates an encounter with the living God and His presence, bringing heaven to earth and wholeness and transformation to individuals, cities, and nations. You will discover your original purpose and eternal destiny as you step into the presence of God and get a revelation of His divine love that will compel you to love Him with your whole heart.
Question: Where does your attention go while you are worshiping: is your undivided attention on God, or is it on the opinion of others?
Prayer: How lovely is Your dwelling place, oh God of my heart! My soul longs and dreams to be in Your presence; When I'm near You, my heart and my soul will sing and worship with my joyful songs of You, my true source and spring of life! How enriched are they who find their strength in the Lord; within their hearts are the highways of holiness! Let me experience all that You are with no fear, for in You there is fullness of joy! In Jesus's name, Amen!
