Healing in the HeartbreakSample

Healing in the Heartbreak

DAY 2 OF 3

The experience of heartbreak can feel very isolating, especially because many times when heartbreak happens, it can seem like it's happened suddenly. If you're experiencing heartbreak, it can be hard to determine which route to take when it comes to healing. It can be hard to deal with the painful reality of what's happened to cause the heartbreak, and it can even seem like you'll be stuck in this feeling and experience for the rest of your life. During situations like this, it's the perfect chance for God to truly move in our lives. Only God can give us true healing and hope. We can find t promises in His Holy Word.

An example of heartbreak in scripture is the story of Tamar. (You can read the story in 2 Samuel 13)

In short, Tamar’s life story consisted of heartbreak, pain, and tragedy. Tamar was a princess. She was the daughter of a king. When people saw her they knew that she was royalty, but once she was raped her royal position was defiled and she was no longer seen as a princess. As a princess, Tamar could have had any pick of men but when she was taken advantage of, that was all taken from her. The pain Tamar experienced seemed to last her entire life. She lived a desolate life. Desolate means to live lifelessly. Tamar was betrayed by her father. She was raped by her stepbrother. She practiced wisdom and courage by standing up to someone who took advantage of her. She was silenced by those around her. Tamar's story was sad, but it did not end in desolation because she is remembered to be a wise and strong woman. Tamar's experience can encourage us to walk beyond the pain of life's circumstances.

You are the daughter of The Most High. God loves you so much. Your royal robe can never be stripped away by loss, pain, or heartbreak. Studying Tamar's story can encourage us to change the narrative of our own heartbreak experiences. God wants us to walk and live in the fullness of him. His desire isn't for us to live life lifelessly.

While heartbreak can often cause imminent suffering, I don’t believe that heartbreak is meant to last a lifetime. God intends for us to go through suffering, to get beyond suffering, and live and walk in a full life in spite of life’s heartbreaks.

The scriptures show us that God cares about our hearts and is near us when we are in pain and heartbroken. Even a broken heart can be used by God for good. Trust that God will restore your pain and heal your broken heart from a situation of loss.

In this lifetime, pain and suffering are inevitable. We will never be able to avoid pain and suffering in this world. It is a part of life. It's real life. We were meant to learn to mourn and grieve, but after we feel the feelings, we are meant to relinquish all of the pain, frustration, bitterness, and anger to God. We cannot heal ourselves with our own strength. We cannot live life being victims. God heals and does the work for us. God’s word tells us:

Romans 18:8

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
