Royals Part I: United Kingdom

DAY 10 OF 21

The Lord’s Anointed

If you’ve accepted Jesus into your life, you are anointed (1 Jhn. 2:20). If we are all anointed, we are called into a role, a responsibility, and given authority, but that does not mean it all happens at once. It also does not mean we rush to find any means possible to make that happen.

David could have killed Saul and easily justified himself; he was anointed by the Lord’s prophet, and the Lord had delivered Saul into his hands, but David knew that it was not right to do so. David had the patience, the security, and the faith in God to know that God would get him to where he was called without David needing to take things into his own hands.

In these times of waiting, we are left questioning what God is doing. Why didn’t God just end Saul’s reign immediately? Why wait it out? Maybe David needed more time to grow. Maybe God was giving Saul more time to repent. Whatever the reason, God continued to work in and through David during that time regardless of whether he was on the throne or not.

This attitude of complete submission is what Jesus had in His time on earth—the one true King who came in complete humility and submission right up to the Cross.

Prayer Point

Ask God to give you Jesus’ Spirit of submission and obedience to His timing for His plans and purposes for your life.

About this Plan

Royals Part I: United Kingdom

Tales of triumph and tragedy in the books of Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles. The history of Kings of Israel and Judah is a story of divine faithfulness despite human failure. These flawed rulers point us towards the one true faithful king. Part I covers Saul, David, and Solomon, the three kings of the United Kingdom.
