Daily Bible Reading, August 2022: God’s Renewing Word of Mercy and ForgivenessSample
August 25
Introduction
After Judah pleads with Joseph for Benjamin's release, Joseph can no longer control his feelings, and he reveals his identity to his brothers. Joseph tells them to return home and return to Egypt with their father Jacob, their families, and all their possessions.
Scripture Reading
Genesis 45:1-28
Today’s Key Verse: Genesis 45:5b
[Joseph said:] “It was really God who sent me ahead of you to save people’s lives.”
Reflect
How did Joseph’s brothers react when Joseph told them who he was? What did Joseph tell them? How did the king react to the news that Joseph’s brothers had arrived in Egypt? How do you envision the reunion between Joseph and his brothers? Based on what you have read thus far, how do the events that have taken place between Joseph and his brothers demonstrate that they were part of a larger divine plan?
Pray
Gracious God, you invite all humanity to be a part of your family. I thank and praise you for your steadfast love. Being in your presence fills me with joy and perfect peace. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Genesis 46:1-27: Jacob and his family go to Egypt.
