DAY 13 OF 20

Sometimes, it's easier to ask for help than to say, "Thank you." When we know we're in trouble, we can quickly call a friend, but when things are going well, sometimes we forget to pause and be grateful. When we do, we probably think of our loved ones for what they've done during our troubles. We may treat God the same way. When things are tough, we might call for help, but what about when things are smooth sailing? Are we intentionally taking a moment to thank God for that, too?

Philippians 4 says, "Rejoice in the Lord always." That's an intentional and consistent posture of gratitude. The passage contrasts anxiety with thankfulness. Not only does taking time to be grateful bless God, but it can bring us peace. Intentional gratitude anchors us in the good times and the tough times. It's just as important as asking God for help.

What is something you can thank God for today?

Focus

It’s not easy to stay focused. Especially these days, when we’re connected to a never-ending stream of new notifications, ads, messages, videos, and posts. Have you ever struggled to stay focused when spending time with God? In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we’ll get honest about how difficult it can be to stay focused when praying, reading the Bible, or growing in our faith.
