Encountering JesusSample
The book of John begins with a 5-verse description of Jesus. In a world that is full of darkness and despair, Jesus is the light. In a world limited by time and place, Jesus existed before all things and was everywhere at once. Jesus, the Son of the living God — God himself in human form. That’s the Jesus we follow. Jesus has all power and authority. And yet, Jesus chose to come here to earth. He wanted to encounter the children he loved in real time, meet them where they were, and walk alongside them through daily life. This same Jesus is the one we can encounter today. Encountering Jesus doesn’t need to be a lightning-strike moment, a booming voice from the clouds, or a plague. Encountering Jesus simply means that he meets us where we are and walks alongside us in a way that only he can. Jesus wants to encounter you. Are you ready?
Challenge: Take a moment today to simply encounter Jesus. It might feel uncomfortable, but try sitting in silence for 2-3 minutes, simply thinking about what Jesus means to you and listening to anything he might want to tell you. Practice sitting in his presence right now, and make a daily habit of it!
