DAY 5 OF 28

Have you ever been in a situation where fear overwhelmed you, and you felt hesitant to take a step in a certain direction? Maybe it was to approach that group who is intimidating to talk to. Maybe it was to tell a friend news they wouldn't want to hear, whether good or bad.

When I read this verse, it immediately reminded me of the time I had the opportunity to tell my story on stage in front of my entire high school ministry. That entire day I wrote notes down on a piece of paper. Then, I came in early to practice what I was going to say before saying it in front of the entire group. As I got up to the stage to practice, the nerves started to kick in, even with only about ten people watching me. After that, all I was focused on was how nervous I was and if I was going to mess up with 100+ people watching me. But right before the service, we had a team prayer, and I specifically remember people praying for all of my nerves to go away. I could not put into words how I felt after that prayer—I was ready for anything. When I got on stage for the second time, in front of everyone, all my nerves were gone. I completely forgot about my notes and talked like I was just talking to my best friend. Situations like this one help remind me that because God is with us, we don't have to be afraid.

Today, I want to challenge you to find a quiet place to talk to God about any fear you might have. Ask God for help with all of your fears, doubts, anxieties, and stress. Asking for help might not automatically change the situation, but it can serve as a reminder that the God who loves you is with you.
