Who Am I?
The battle for our minds and hearts isn’t a quick fight; it’s siege warfare. It takes time, intention, and perseverance. Paul explains in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 how our battles are with weapons that aren’t of this world. Instead of attempting to breach castle walls with catapults, we are fighting against the deceptions and malicious strategies of the enemy. Recognizing this is the first and most crucial step to uprooting the enemy’s lies and embracing God’s purpose for our lives.
The enemy deceives us in a multitude of ways. Like it or not, we all develop coping mechanisms to deal with these deceptions and the pain we experience. We, consciously or subconsciously, develop ways to protect ourselves so we don’t feel this pain again. However, God wants to heal our wounds. In fact, He can use even our most painful experiences as a testimony for others! We see the apostle Paul speak about this principle in Romans 8:28.
Whether the pain we experienced occurred in childhood, young adulthood, or even yesterday, we must not let it deceive us into looking at ourselves differently than God sees us. We are His children. Not only are we His children, but according to 2 Corinthians 6:18, He has chosen to be a Father to us!
We need to recognize this and live accordingly! There is no point in the history of your life that God has or will deny that He is your Father. You are not an accident. Not only that, but you are loved deeply by God, and nothing you might do could take away His love! Paul talks about this inseparable love in Romans 8:38-39.
So, who are you? The reality of who you are in God may be disconnected from who you currently believe you are. Throughout this plan, take time to pray and ask the Lord to reveal the lies that the enemy has ingrained in your thinking . . . and ask God to shine a light on who you really are as His child.
