5 Powerful Prayers to Impact Our Schools TogetherSample
Friend
We were all anticipating how God would answer our prayer, calling ourselves “God’s Girls on Mission.”
Our group of 12 friends had been gathering every Friday for over ten years to study God’s word together. One particular spring morning, we prayed for God to use us to glorify Him. One of the gals had heard a radio spot about a prayer program in the schools. I made a note in our Bible study prayer journal.
As I opened my evening devotional that night the title of the entry stopped me in my tracks. Running to grab the prayer journal, my heart racing in great anticipation, I thought, “Is this devotional title the same name as the prayer group my friend had told us about? Is this confirmation about what my friends and I just prayed?”
My suspicions were quickly confirmed and I began letting my friends know how God had answered our prayer almost immediately. Imagine my amazement when I discovered that the Director of the prayer organization had been asking God to raise up a remnant of prayer warriors to cover our school district. All glory and honor to our amazing God!
As we continue these powerful prayers to impact our schools together, we trust God to be glorified as people come together in friendship.
Praise God, Our Friend
Exodus 33:11 “The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.”
Holy God, high and exalted - You are the creator of all things. We give You praise for humbling Yourself to speak with Moses, and now with us, as a friend.
Pray for Hearts to Experience the Benefits of Friendship
The author of Job wrote, “When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes, giving him twice as much as before.”
We declare that students will be blessed and strengthened with strong, healthy friendships. May they pray for each other and experience outpouring and restoration from God. May students reach out to those who are lonely and in need of genuine friends.
Pray for Hearts that are Cautious in Friendship
“A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.” Proverbs 12:26
Proverbs 22:24 instructs, “Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared.”
God, we pray against dysfunctional friendships in our school communities. May students be cautious and discerning in choosing friends, that they would not be led astray or ensnared. Change the hearts of those who are easily angered or seek to lead others into hurtful paths. We are expecting to see the fruit of the new friendships that You create this school year. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
About this Plan
What could happen if people joined together to pray for transformation in school communities? In spite of the independence and individualism woven into the fabric of our culture, we believe an untapped resource for miraculous change is available: The Power of Together. Let’s be strategic and focused together on behalf of our school communities as we “devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” -Colossians 4:2
