From Insecurity to Godly Identity: My Path to FreedomSample
It's time to sing a new song!
For those of you who read these daily miracles to your family, please know that today's "miracle" has some sensitive content.
Have you ever stopped believing that God could use you? What caused this to happen? Is it something you did or perhaps something someone did to you? T.D. Jakes wrote this in his book Crushing:
"Crushing places reveal that there is more to our lives than we had planned."
I was 21 years old when a sunny afternoon turned into my worst nightmare—someone put knockout drops into my drink, and I was assaulted. I remember dreading going home, too ashamed to face my family. I kept thinking, "This is all your fault. You provoked it after all…" These lies caused me to run…run away from the truth that could've helped me right away.
Instead of singing in church that Easter, I was hiding in the last row, broken. I remember the pastor saying, "No matter what you have done, no matter how far you've run—it's time for you to start singing a brand new song!" Excuse me? Singing? No! I'd given up on singing the afternoon it had happened…how could God ever use me, or my voice, ever again?
But that day, I made the most important decision I could make: while feeling dirty, while feeling broken, while feeling hopeless, I stood up and walked up to the cross in my church, sobbing like a child, and asked God to heal me. And He did! Not only that—today, He's using this testimony of my crushing to be a healing voice in the lives of others!!
As Genesis 50:20 proclaims, "'But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.'" (Genesis 50:20, NKJV)
I want to encourage you today—no matter how far you've run, it's time for you to start singing a brand new song! May I pray for you? "Heavenly Father, I pray today for healing and restoration for, just as You brought healing and restoration into my life. May experience what it means to be healed and loved by You! May he/she be free to move forward! In Jesus' name, amen."
You are a miracle!
