Courageous Choices Part 2Sample
JESUS IS THE TRUE ARK OF GOD
The Ark of the Covenant was carried by the priests who had to take that first step into the Jordan. They knew the Ark was God’s presence with them and they had to keep their focus on God as He led them.
For New Covenant Christians, Jesus is the true Ark of God. His presence is in us. The Ark contained the tablet with the Ten Commandments, the embodiment of the law, but Jesus says in Matthew 5:17 that He is the fulfillment of the law. The Ark also held the manna that God provided for their food in the wilderness, but in John 6 Jesus explains He is the Bread of Life. The Ark was a symbol of God’s resurrection power, but Hebrews 12:2 tells us Jesus is the founder and perfecter of our faith and we must keep our eyes on Him. And because the Holy Spirit lives in us, we are God’s dwelling place. As we move toward the Promised Land of heaven, we can cross the flood waters and overcome barriers confidently because God is in us and that gives us courage.
Ask Yourself:
-How does reminding yourself that God is living in you give you courage?
-What things can you do to keep that truth in your mind throughout your week?
Pause to Pray: Take some time to thank God for His presence in your life. You would not even be able to take a breath without His creative power in you! Take a minute to concentrate on your breathing and offer some breath prayers. As you breathe in, whisper, “God, you are” and as you breathe out, whisper, “living in me.”
Take a Next Step: Identify an obstacle you are facing right now and vow to make these four declarations true in your life as you face it:
1- I will surrender to God’s timing.
2- I will cleanse my heart.
3- I will take steps of faith.
4- I will tell of God’s faithfulness.
