Living The Christian Life Of Obedience

DAY 3 OF 7

Somebody said: “Grace is mercy shown to ill-deserving, nil-deserving, and hell-deserving sinners.”

Passage
After the Lord your God has driven them out before you, do not say to yourself, “The Lord has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.” No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is going to drive them out before you.

It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the Lord your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. (Deut 9:4-5).

Principles
The Children of Israel did not inherit the Promised Land, but the original inhabitants forfeited their right to exist because of their wickedness. So the Israelites cannot take credit or be proud of the possession.

Do we deserve to receive all the Spiritual blessings like Forgiveness of sins, Assurance of Salvation, Offer of Heavenly Citizenship...etc? However, God gives to those who believe in Him.

Even though we do not deserve these, we do desire these blessings. When we receive them, there should not be any spiritual pride and haughty attitude that disdains those who do not have these blessings. The Children of Israel discriminated the Gentiles and treated them like ‘dogs,’ which was sin in the sight of God.

Practice
We should learn to thank God for all the small and great blessings we receive. If we do not thank, we develop an attitude that we deserve them as our right and start demanding as our inheritance.

Plan of Action
List the blessings you received yesterday that you really do not deserve and thank God for the same.
