[Uniqueness of Christ] Jesus' Unique RelationshipSample

[Uniqueness of Christ] Jesus' Unique Relationship

DAY 1 OF 3

In Public

Everyone who believes in Jesus for the forgiveness of sin and eternal life has been given a beautiful relationship with the Father and now belongs to the family of God.

However, no relationship is comparable to the one between God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Did you know that if we examine this beautiful relationship closely, we will find many applications for our personal Christian walk and our relationships with others?

God the Father and the Son openly voiced their love and devotion to one another in public. On two occasions (Matthew 3:16-17 and 17:5), God called Jesus His beloved Son, in whom He was well pleased. Imagine what Jesus felt when He heard the Father saying those words!

In several instances in the New Testament, Jesus also publicly called God "My Father" during His life on earth. Whenever prophets in the Bible referred to God, they called Him "the Lord" or "the Almighty." Only Jesus calls God "My Father."

To some, this may be a term of affection, love, or closeness. The Father and Son openly declared their love and devotion to one another and that they belonged to one another. Jesus mentions that He and the Father are one.

When God the Father said He is well pleased with Jesus Christ, it was at the beginning of Jesus' ministry. What pleased God so much about what has Jesus done and what His accomplishments were up to this point in His life?

Remember that He had not healed people yet, delivered anyone, or forgiven them. However, Jesus had spent 30 years of His life being obedient. He came to Earth, agreed to be born as a Baby, walked in humility, learned a trade, stayed obedient to His human parents, and most importantly, obeyed the Father in everything He did.

Jesus never took credit for anything He did. In fact, He always gave deference to the Father. Nevertheless, we can clearly see that humility, obedience, and submission are essential to the Father.

That is what we see in Jesus Christ, which is why the Father pointed out publicly that He was pleased by His Son.

Jesus Christ should be our model. He showed us that obedience is possible and can be done because Jesus was obedient and walked in humility all His earthly life.

Reflect on the beautiful relationship Christ has with His Father. Think about how this affects you in your relationship with Jesus and your relationship with others. Does their public identification with each other bring you comfort, peace, and assurance?

Day 2

About this Plan

[Uniqueness of Christ] Jesus' Unique Relationship

No relationship is as unique and special as the one shared by God the Father and God the Son. Let's examine that heavenly relationship closely in this three–day devotional plan and reflect on how we can apply it to our personal walk with Christ and our relationship with others.
