Don’t Miss Your Life

DAY 7 OF 7

On Purpose

There are many things you can chase. There are many things you can diligently seek after in life. But here’s the question: How do you want to be remembered? What impact do you want your life to have on the world? And just as important, do you really want life to the full?

Jesus compares the sum of our life to treasure. It’s our choice—we get to choose how we spend our life. Here’s how Jesus says it:

"Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be." (Matthew 6:19–21 NLT).

I don’t know if Jesus ever did archery in high school, but I’m pretty sure he’s saying that whatever you aim at, whatever you most pursue, that’s where the majority of your attention, affection, and effort will be. So, this is important: What or whom do you choose to follow? Because, whatever or whomever it is, you’ll inevitably organize and prioritize your life around that pursuit.

Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to just get by or just make it through. I don’t want to keep my fingers crossed and grit my teeth to hopefully someday, somehow, with some luck, limp across the finish line of life. I want a life of purpose. I want a life of meaning. I want life to the full. It’s not the feeling you get when you’ve eaten too much turkey on Thanksgiving. That’s not what Jesus is talking about. It’s the life Jesus has to offer. Life to the full. It’s exceedingly, abundantly supreme.

Jesus offers a life of significance, but it doesn’t just happen.

You choose it.

You make it your goal.

You aim at significance, and it’s really not complex. Here’s the secret to significance: organize and prioritize your life around the things that matter most—God, people, and service.

I’m convinced of this: significance is success.

So, here’s to the pursuit of significance. It might not be for everyone, but I think we should pursue it together.

One step at a time.

You were made for a meaningful, deeply fulfilling life, and you can achieve just that. Join Aaron Tredway as he shares his personal discovery of the secret to significance and invites you to live the life God created you for in Don’t Miss Your Life. Learn to recognize the exhausting emptiness of pursuing success, find liberation from a life without purpose, pursue God’s glory instead of unrewarding self-focus, and choose significance over success one step at a time.
