What Is Christmas All About?

DAY 5 OF 6

The Never-ending Gift

What’s the best gift someone could give you for Christmas? You’ve been learning about how generous God is. You’ve learned that He gave His Son for everyone! You’ve learned that God’s love for the world was expressed through giving—and that’s what is remembered and celebrated at Christmas.

So, how did the tradition of giving other people gifts develop? Watch another video from Quizman to help you answer that question—and to remind you of something super important.

Don’t you feel smarter every time you get to learn something from Quizman?

God gave what only He could give: His Son, Jesus, so that He could cover the cost of everyone’s mistakes and sins. God loves humans enough to give all people a free path back to Him if we choose it.

The gift God gave never spoils, gets old, or becomes boring. It’s Jesus! Through Jesus, God’s Holy Spirit can live in everyone! What a gift! God is with us—forever!

Ask yourself: What is something only God can give to me this Christmas? Think about the kind of fruit His Holy Spirit can grow inside of you, like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Challenge yourself: Write down your answer to today’s “Ask yourself” question in big letters on a piece of paper. Draw and design around the letters to make them come alive a bit. Pray while you draw that God would truly give you that gift this year. Hang it up somewhere you’ll see it often and be reminded to continue to ask for that gift. Think of ways you could encourage or help others with the gift God gives you!

Pray: God, thank You for giving us what only You could give us: Your Son, Jesus. Help me to use the gifts You give to me to help others, too. Thank You for being so generous to us and for always being with us. Help me to love you and stay close to you every day of my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
