Parasha Minute: Genesis / BreisheetSample
"What God Was about to Do"
Adonai blessed all other nations through Avraham through the giving of his Word – the Torah and Yeshua. He trusted Avraham to guide his kin and servants to keep His ways. Keeping this path would facilitate God's fulfillment of His promise. Straying away would merit consequences. If we are listening, God often gives a heads-up on what He is about to do even at the expense to others. Sodom and Gomorrah were great nations--morally devoid and godless. Adonai said, "Should I hide from Avraham what I am about to do?"
Upon knowing, Avraham stood in the gap and negotiated, "Maybe there will be fifty...forty...thirty...twenty...ten found righteous?" Adonai finally said, "For the sake of the ten I won't destroy it." After this, God went on his way and Avraham went back to his place. Reflection / Prayer: Adonai, thank You for being so kind and merciful to us. You share Your plans with us slowly so we are not frightened by the magnitude of Your will. We pray, teach us Your ways.
