Precious Moments That Count For EternitySample
The God of Restoration
After Naomi lost her husband and two sons in Moab, she decided to return to her homeland, on hearing that there was no longer any famine in Israel. She advised her daughters-in-law to return to their parents’ homes, but Ruth refused to part from her mother-in-law and traveled with Naomi to Israel.
Naomi returned to her homeland with bitterness of heart, for she was bereaved of her husband and sons. The townspeople gathered to greet her, but she was inconsolable, saying, God had dealt bitterly with her (Ruth 1:20,21). However, God had a plan of restoration in place for Naomi. Naomi’s husband had a relative named Boaz, who eventually married Ruth, becoming her kinsman redeemer.
Ruth bore a son who was named Obed. Naomi became the child’s nurse and the women in the town rejoiced saying, “A son is born to Naomi.” They blessed her, declaring that the child would be ‘a restorer of life and a nourisher of her old age’. God turned Naomi’s bitterness into unspeakable joy.
God is a God of restoration. He declares, “I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, the chewing locust…” (Joel 2:25). You may have gone through a series of calamities, but God says, “I will restore.”
Maybe you’ve had many health issues and wonder when you’re going to be free of sickness. You are probably wondering if you will ever be energetic in your old age, as you were before. God is true to His word; He will restore your life and nourish you in your old age. He will restore the good health the devil has stolen from you. He will change those years of lack into supply and abundance and do for you what he did for Naomi.
Prayer
Father, I thank You that I can depend on You to restore to me, my health, my finances, my relationships and all that concerns me. You are the God of Restoration! Amen.
