Stay The Path
Key Thought
When I was growing up there were large grass paddocks between our home and the street we eventually walked down to school. There was no formal pathway created but because so many people had walked that way for so long, a pathway was obvious through the grass.
Over the years, I have noticed well-trodden pathways created by people who walk the same way consistently. Just yesterday, I noticed a concrete pathway winding down to a building facility, but a path had been well trodden through the garden. Obviously people were not content with walking the path and wanted to take a short cut.
There is greater confidence to follow a familiar trail through unfamiliar territory. I have been lost in the mountains before, and it is very comforting to stumble upon a trail that has been walked by many who have gone before me.
The bible is like a mountain trail. It can be very intimidating trying to navigate a spiritual landscape that is very new to you. Often, there can be people around us trying to get us to take a different direction. It's easy to get lost (spiritually) in this world. It seems everyone has the better way to travel.
God gave us His instructions and revealed who He is in the pages of the bible. Think of the bible as a map for your spiritual journey. A heavenly navigation system that will get you through the peaks and valleys of life.
Reading the bible regularly and thinking (meditating) about what it means and how to apply it will help you stay the path.
Time To Think
Have you ever been lost in the bush without directions?
What are some well-trodden spiritual pathways of other Christians you know?
Prayer
Father, thank you for showing me the right way to live. Thank you for the countless other Christians that have followed You before I have. Help me to see more clearly the path You have for me and help me stay the path. Amen.
About this Plan
When we surrender to Jesus He changes us in a moment but we are still being changed everyday to become more like Him. This devotion deals with the everyday, ordinary changes that we all face in becoming more Christ-like. We are changed and changing still.
