Tired of Being Tired?Sample
How God Makes Us Whole
In the 1930s, millions of acres of topsoil from the Great Plains blew away. Drought, overworked land, and wind combined to create “black blizzards” of suffocating dust. Acres of land stopped producing food, and the nation fell into one of the hardest times of the twentieth century. Without rain, once-fertile soil became barren and worthless as the winds blew the dust around.
Interestingly, one of today’s guiding verses teaches God created human beings from the dust of the earth. On our own, we’re easily scattered. But when God breathes life into us, we turn from arid land to flourishing fields!
We are very much like the earthen vessels the Apostle Paul talks about in 2 Corinthians 4:7. We are fragile and easily cracked when we’re dried out and overworked. Rest gives God a chance to refresh us, repair us, and make us whole.
God not only knows what we’re made of but whose image we carry. He knows precisely what each of us was created for. A day of rest reminds us that we require renewal from outside of ourselves. We are insufficient on our own. Like rain falling on dry earth or a master potter mending cracks in clay pots, God’s power makes us whole.
- Are you hurting?
- Are you exhausted?
- Are you at the end of your rope?
- Are you burned out?
- Are you feeling defeated?
Understand, today, those are cracks in the clay and areas of drought in your soul. But there is living water and abundant life available to you in the Holy Spirit’s presence. God’s Word and His renewing power always go together. Make time to go to Him.
As you engage with God’s Word:
● Where do I need to make time for God to mend my cracks?
● What is God saying to me?
● How can I apply what God is teaching me?
● How can I be specific in prayer today?
