Pause

DAY 2 OF 15

These words come from a conversation between God and Moses. The Lord spoke these words to Moses, calling him to pause and find time to sit in God’s presence. What’s interesting isn’t just the words themselves, but when God chose to speak them to Moses. He didn’t say them when Moses had all the free time in the world or all the worries in his life washed away. He didn’t say them when things were calm and peaceful and easy for Moses. Instead, God called Moses to come and sit with Him—to pause and be present—in one of the craziest times of Moses’ life! He said it when Moses was in the thick of leading God’s people to the Promised Land.

Why this moment? Maybe in an effort to show both Moses and us the value of the pause. We all have reasons not to be able to pause. We all have reasons to keep going, to push off rest, to not find time to sit in the presence of God. But, as we can learn from this call to Moses, there’s value in the pause. It’s what God calls us to do—to find time to pause in His presence and spend time with Him. What would that look like in your life? This week, take time to pause, be still, and spend time with the Lord to see what He has for you there.

About this Plan

Pause

Being busy has become the norm—a way of doing things in a culture that celebrates and even encourages living life well beyond our mental, emotional, and physical capacity. The result? A hurried life. So what do we do? During this devotional, we’ll look at the value of slowing down, taking a break, and pushing pause when we need it the most to help us be present, connect with God, and see God’s presence in our lives.
