[Unseen Battle] the Battle Is RealSample
The Micro Battles
The micro battles of distraction that seem to consume us are the fruit of a macro battle of destruction designed to kill us.
The real battle we face is unseen; it’s not against one another but against wicked spiritual forces in heavenly places. Contrary to what the world would have us think, the Bible says that we don’t have to fight against each another. We desperately need one another for this real battle that we face. We should accentuate the ways that we are for one another rather than always finding how we are against each other.
We’re in an unseen battle, and we do have an enemy. Your adversary is neither your wife nor your husband. It is not a political organization. Yes, you do have an enemy. That enemy is dark, calculating, cunning, wicked, and full of arrogance and rebellion. That enemy hates us and wants to distract, divide, discourage, depress, and ultimately destroy us. In John 10:10, Jesus calls him a thief who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy.
The one thing we need to reconcile ourselves to, first and fast, is this right here: Do we believe there is an invisible spiritual realm? Do we believe that we have an enemy there? Do we believe that Satan is real? Or do we imagine this formidable foe hanging out in red spandex suit, with a pitchfork in hand, as kids’ cartoons? What do you think? What do you believe about the devil, the accuser, the slanderer, the adversary? Let’s begin there.
C. S. Lewis once said, “There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve their existence. The other is to believe and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them.”
As sons and daughters of God, we are called to have fellowship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is more than enough to meet all of our spiritual needs. We are no longer bound to the darkness, we have transferred to the kingdom of light, and the darkness has not overcome the light. (John 1:5)
Thank You, Father, for giving me victory over my enemy. Help me see him defeated as he is. He has no power over me because I submit to the lordship of Jesus Christ. Amen.

About this Plan
We are involved in an unseen battle, whether we believe it or not. We have a real enemy who hates us. We have an opponent committed to stealing from us, killing us, and destroying us. His language is fear, isolation, and accusation. His currency is condemnation. We must watch out for the devil’s schemes because Scripture says our struggle is not against flesh and blood.
