Pray in Faith: Victory in Surrender

DAY 1 OF 6

How can I pray in faith for my healing/health?

Read It

Luke 18:35-43

As Jesus was approaching Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging. Now hearing a crowd going by, he began to inquire what this was. They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. And he called out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Those who led the way were sternly telling him to be quiet; but he kept crying out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” And Jesus stopped and commanded that he be brought to Him; and when he came near, He questioned him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And he said, “Lord, I want to regain my sight!” And Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him, glorifying God; and when all the people saw it, they gave praise to God.

Meditate On It

Jesus openly and lovingly receives those who seek Him for His restoration and healing. We are reminded that God sovereignly orchestrates whatever we are going through, and He will graciously heal in His own way and in His own time. Our part is to pray in faith, knowing that we can trust in Him and that the Holy Spirit is powerful enough to heal us in an instant or to give us strength to endure our condition. Ultimately, God is glorified as we worship Him through whatever circumstance we face.

Consider the following questions:
1. How did the blind man know about Jesus? What did he do to seek and approach the Lord?
2. What was Jesus’ response to him? How did the Lord heal the blind man?
3. Describe what came about as a result of the healing. Why do you think Jesus extends His healing?

Apply It

1. Whenever I experience an illness or others around me do, is prayer my first recourse or last resort? How can I grow in my faith, knowing that Jesus is the Great Healer?

2. What steps should I take to ensure that I am taking care of my health (both spiritual and physical)? How can I develop healthy habits as I seek the fullness of life from the Lord?
Set Simple, Measurable, Appropriate, Realistic, Time-bound (SMART) commitments Example: “I will start prayer walking just 5-10 minutes daily as I spend time with the Lord.”

3. I will take the time to pray in faith for those who are currently sick and, more importantly, in need of spiritual healing and salvation. By faith, I will pray for _________ every Tuesday morning beginning this week for the next three months.

Pray It

Let us confess our unworthiness before the Lord. For the times that we have relied on our own resources and reasoning, rather than running to God first and foremost — for our healing and wholeness.

As we pray for healing – whether for ourselves or others – let us trust that God heals in His time and in His way. Instead of demanding or dictating how the Lord should heal our loved ones or us, let us remember to pray with child-like faith — believing that God is the same Healer yesterday, today, and forevermore.

Pray for good health from the Lord as we do our part in eating properly, sleeping adequately, exercising regularly, and also practicing soul care daily (spiritual disciplines, meditation on the Word, silence, and solitude before the Lord).

About this Plan

Pray in Faith: Victory in Surrender

How do we pray in faith for our concerns, plans, and aspirations? Learn how to come to the Lord in humble surrender - to trust God for the things that He will allow to happen, and to work with the strength He gives us to accomplish His purpose for all of us. This plan is best for your personal prayer and fasting.
