Finding Your Identity in ChristSample
Over the next 3 days we will be asking and seeking answers to three of the biggest questions every person wrestles with. Of course, there are various ways we ask these questions, and a bunch of questions that surround each of these questions, but they really boil down to three main ones that we need to answer.
1. Who am I? A question of identity.
2. Where do I fit? A question belonging.
3. What difference can I make? A question of purpose.
Today’s question is the identity question: Who am I? It can be easy to allow the people around us to determine or define who we are. Maybe you struggle with feeling inadequate or like you don’t measure up. That is why answering this question of identity is best answered through Jesus. You and I are enough because of Jesus. I love the story from John 6 that you will be reading today. It’s the story of Jesus feeding 5,000 people. That is a crazy dinner party! What is even crazier, Jesus didn’t have any food when it came time to eat. So, he asked his disciples to go into the crowd to see if anyone had any. What they found was one boy who had a small lunch. This boy brought what he had to Jesus, which was clearly not enough to feed the huge crowd. Jesus took that boy’s small lunch and miraculously fed the entire crowd— and they even had leftovers.
With so many voices telling us who we are, it is important to remember that our identity is found in Jesus. Who you are in Jesus is more than enough.
