Stewardship: 12 Bible Verses You Need to KnowSample
As we read yesterday in the Parable of the Talents, God has put us on earth for a purpose. And He has provided us with the tools and resources needed to get the job done.
Again, imagine being a manager at a restaurant. The owner of the restaurant might have trusted you to sign your own paycheck each month, but that doesn’t mean that all of the money that comes in is yours - right?
As the manager, your job is to use the money that comes in according to the owner’s wishes. Part of which is for you, but not all.
I believe this is a huge mistake that far too many Christians are making. They assume that every dollar that comes in each month is for them.
They then spend according to their plans rather than God’s (the owner).
Newsflash: no matter how smart we are or how good we think we are at managing, God is smarter!
And so the best thing we can do to be better managers is to ask Him for help! And then yield to His instructions!
It seems so obvious, but if you are anything like me, you probably lose sight of this from time to time.
Today, let’s ask the owner to give us specific advice on how to best manage what He has entrusted to us!
Dear God, I want to manage everything you have entrusted to me well! But I need your help to know exactly how to best do this. I pray that you would give me clear direction and wisdom in this area. And as you provide direction and clarity, please give me the boldness and strength to obey!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
