No Need To Search
If something is present, would you go searching for it? That probably seems like a silly question, a no-brainer even, but the truth of the matter is, a lot of us go searching for what's already right in front of us. It might be subconsciously most times, but it is a common habit. We do this a lot for God—specifically when we find ourselves in trouble.
If it is true that God is a present help in the time of need, and He is, that means he isn't absent. If he isn't absent, that means we don't have to go looking because He is already right there. Before a problem arises, He is present. Before the layoff, He is present. Before the heartbreak happens, He is present.
We never have to go find God when trouble comes, we only have to lean in. We have to lean into the awareness that God is already with us and will always be with us.
Here is your encouragement: God never leaves. To leave you would be to abandon you and abandonment is off brand for God. Being in a time of need can be blinding to the point that you can't see that you're not without hope or help. No matter the circumstances, hold firmly to the truth that the God you love won't leave you helpless.
Prayer: Today, I am simply grateful for a God who is ever-present; a God who isn’t an absent father. Thank You for consistent safety and strength. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
