I Surrender: Inspirational Devotions Written by PrisonersSample
JESUS IS HERE
“He said unto Him, ‘Lord, I am ready to go with You, both in prison and to death.’”—LUKE 22:33
Peter, at one point in his life, made a serious commitment to follow Jesus. He even said he would go to prison and die for Him. Peter was sincere, but he blew it when tests and trials came! But Jesus had prayed for Peter and didn’t give up on him.
Have we also failed? Have we denied our Savior, backslid, and totally blown it? Take hope. Look to Jesus. He is still there. He still loves us. He has prayed for us, and despite all our failures, He is ready to lift us up, dry our tears, and heal our broken hearts.
We can go on to become that man or woman of God, to keep our commitments and the promises we made to Jesus. No matter where we are, even in a dark prison cell, no matter what our circumstances, Jesus is there. We can take courage and again say to Him, “I am ready, Lord, to go with you to prison and to death!”

PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, that even though we fail, You never give up on us. Amen.

About this Plan
The Bible is a book of redemption, freedom, and hope. Within its pages are characters dynamic and full of grit—broken men and women looking for answers. In a way, they’re a lot like the current and former prisoners who authored the devotionals you’re about to read. We hope you are encouraged and inspired by voices from the church behind bars. May their testimony set us all free.
