Five: Wind Mover Devotional

DAY 1 OF 5

God can use anyone

This is a phrase that I found a little difficult to come to terms with. Do you mean to tell me that God would use anyone? Just anyone?!

But it did not take me long to realise that if God can use me (and you) then yes, He can and will use just anyone!

So that includes the drug addict, the alcoholic, the criminal – whatever your background, ethnicity, height, size, or gender, God can and will use you for His glory!

Just look at the list of Jesus’ ancestors in Matthew chapter one.

It is encouraging to see that they include Father Abraham who was a Gentile and he lied when he feared for his life, and almost gave up his wife to marry another man twice ! Sarah his wife wasn’t too far behind when she lied to God about her laughing. Isaac, followed in his father’s footsteps in lying and almost giving his wife away. Jacob was a trickster (and we see it ran in the family when his uncle tricked him)! Also, there's Tamar who played the harlot (but was found by Judah to be more righteous than himself), Rahab (the prostitute), Ruth (the Non-Jewish Moabitess), Solomon (who was conceived after King David’s adulterous affair with Bathsheba which led to the methodical murder of her previous husband Uriah the Hittite).

Even Moses, the man who led Israel out of captivity from Egypt, the same man who wrote the first five books of the bible known as the Torah. He murdered a man, was a convict on the run, and had anger management issues that blocked his entrance into the Promised Land. And Samson whose nemesis was his sexual passion, because as strong and powerful as he was, he still had a real terrible weakness for Philistine women. These people (and a lot more) all had issues and made mistakes and had a past they were ashamed of, but that did not stop God from using them.

Much like our main character, Berahino, in FIVE: Wind Mover, he is an alcoholic, a womaniser and someone who would attend wild parties. He is even known as a magician, trained by another who is a master in the dark arts, yet God still uses him.

Thankfully, by His grace, God is interested in, communicates, collaborates and partners with sinful human beings, and therefore, He can use me and He can use you for His glory and to our advantage. Whatever your past, however, broken, misaligned, fractured or damaged your life may seem right now, God can use you to do something great with your life and in the lives of others. I once heard this saying, "Men throw broken things away, but God doesn't use anything or anyone until they are first broken." Do not shy away from His call. God does not call the perfect, but He perfects the called – if you let Him.

Day 2

About this Plan

Five: Wind Mover Devotional

This devotional has been birthed and adapted from the fantasy adventure novel, FIVE: Wind Mover. It is a message to those who don’t know, and a reminder to those who do know, that God is interested in you. He wants you to know Him and He has grace for the space that you are in right now. He can use whatever circumstance you’re in to your advantage, and for His glory!
